Flanges
Lap Joint Flanges
Lap Joint flanges are used in conjunction with a stub end, where the flange slips over the pipe and the stub end is butt-welded to the pipe. This allows the flange to rotate freely for bolt alignment and enables easy dismantling. The key advantage is cost savings when using exotic materials — only the stub end needs to be the expensive alloy, while the backing flange can be carbon steel.
